Upon receipt of the third message, with no reply and days apart, we fundamentally understand that the sender is insecure. In one way or another. We feel this unhealthy attachment to us with people we do not know closely. We can see, depending on context now, that the sender is spinning out.
Clearly, I’m a little neurotic. To me, one of the narratives in my head that my ego latches to is rejection. By way of its presence, and perhaps this is not always evident, one necessarily will face opportunities to reinforce the narrative. Which is to say, push people away.
The strongest narrative I have is that I am okay if not better in solitude, with plenty of space to think. As with all narratives, it is useful to deconstruct this as well. It would only make sense that a narrative of solitude would win out over a narrative of non-rejection wherein the solitude would necessarily be lessened. Since a “romantic” relationship does not have the same level of freedom as familial or friendship.
I believe the healthy perspective is one where life continues regardless of the outcome. What to me look like apparent signs of fated love, may in fact just be signs to trigger reflection. Road markers to guide. Lessons to learn.
Yea, cause I mean we all got shit to do. We’re all making it work in a ridiculous neoliberal global economy.. and sometimes it is what it is.. Why? Ultimately, because shit runs down hill. Money on the other hand, gets swept up by the wind. So none of us have enough time, and we’re each leading internally complex lives that nobody else, usually, understands entirely.
And so I say to you, if it is not to be. I may grieve, but for just a moment. If it is, I invite you inside.. like I do every single person I ever vibe with in my soul.
Update 2026:
To any future reader, and any others to whom this concerns. I’m a lot. I get it. I can’t be any less though.
I believe in quality over quantity, and my social opportunities reflect this belief. Over time I collect meaningful friendships and too many acquaintances to bother remembering properly. Opportunities for romantic love have followed similarly but being directly correlated with how coherently I was living between inside and outside – instead of with time. Which is to say I swam in opportunities while I had no damage or scars that can’t seem to heal properly. So now, they come in cycles.
In my experience with Karmic cycles and paired healing.. it works better if we try. If we don’t try we can’t differentiate these relationships from acquaintances for example.
