Maybe it was just the 90’s I dunno. The weird part is just that the experience happened, but only one other person has ever in my life mentioned some of this stuff.
I can’t help but wonder how many people have had the experience of practicing singing some song chosen by one’s music teacher. Then shipped off in a bus to some other place (school?). Once there you’d wait.. in the hall? to enter onto a stage and sing to some group who is judging you. Man.. I think it was only like 12 people sitting in a giant theatre; however I was probably no more than 8 years old and that’s nearly 30 years ago. The class would walk out onto the stage, then sing the song.. leave… and I DON’T KNOW WHAT THE POINT OF IT WAS. I am so confused by this memory.
This was just the class. Not some extracurricular activity. Interestingly that music room was the same room they had police in taking videos of us. In case we ever were abducted? wtf? I wish I could time travel back, as an adult mind and ask wtf is going on. I don’t even remember what they had me say.. probably my name and address or something I dunno. Probably tied up with DARE or something fuck if I know.
Again. The thing that is getting me, is that nobody ever talks about these experiences. I dunno if my sister went through this. I dunno if my best friend did. I am fairly confident that my oldest friend, sorry Jeremy not sure you count anymore, did the video stuff. I vaguely recall them referencing it one time.
All my unique experiences are pretty lame, or emotionally traumatizing. Wonder what a few cool ones might look like.
