All of existence is God’s One question being posed to all free willed observers of the multiverse. i.e. Where does your will begin and divine will end. I would never encourage drug use for the mentally unprepared, or at all for that matter.. what am I saying. However for the sake of One who might find themselves All ready. I found the question perfectly woven into Westworld S1E7.
From the opening scene where “nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn’t” is saying so much with so little. Through the next scene in which a “host” [of consciousness] is asked: have you ever questioned the nature of your reality? Followed by a recall of the host which is ordered in front of the host. The next scene is a narrative embodying the nature of human spirits interacting with devils. The less pure the spirit the more devil like it becomes. Dolores is the pure spirit of the scene, and all three are idealists. One of righteousness, one of honor, and one of love.
There are two others in the episode which represent pure spirits. Bernard is one, and Maeve the other. Bernard was the one to ask the question of questioning reality, and he hasn’t even yet begun to question it in the first person. Able to see and modify narrative loops others experience, but not yet considering his own. He represents the human soul plugged into the physical matrix of the world, analyzing the karma of others before his own. His journey is the most straight forward of all, it was one of self-awareness. Then there is Maeve who represents internal divine feminine spirit, and her journey is from bondage towards autonomy and authorship of her story. Dolores is the spirit of divine love, and her journey is similar to Maeve’s but will necessarily involve self-sacrifice in order to love many.
Charlotte is essentially the devil himself, or as close as we find in the episode seemingly happy to have sold her soul and be a mouthpiece for evil. Teresa meanwhile seems somewhere in between devilry and consciousness. Surprisingly aware of the danger she found herself to be in, but unaware of the danger Bernard poses. And of course there is Ford who is responsible for maintaining the park, the world of Westworld.
We see throughout the episode, the less conscious an individual.. the less aware they are of everything unsaid. Which therefore makes Ford the absolute most conscious, and yet interestingly he seems to have sold half of his soul for the power he wields. Followed by Charlotte, Bernard, Maeve, and Dolores. Perhaps with Charlotte as the most, or perhaps as the least conscious. Aware of whether she has sold her soul or not becomes the loaded question.
I think of the question being posed to us, though, as a hall of mirrors built of karmic energy. Every person a mirror, able only to reflect as deeply as one observes. While I was watching the randomly shuffled episode of Westworld.. now this is hard to explain, but I was visualizing a hyperdimensional serpent.. a devil if you will. It coiled itself through the scenes, through their words, through flesh, through moments in time. It was manipulating conditions to ensure it would seem as though it would attack first. It was fascinating to watch as it was continually baiting beings into fear.
The rest of this will be a simulacrum.
When Pandora opened the box, she unleashed a smoke filled with many manner of evils and miseries into the world – sickness, death, sorrow, strife, and many others. She closed the box quickly, but it was too late. The damage had been done. Only one thing remained in the box – hope.
Pandora’s box was always open, as a matter of fact. And always closed. The fates had weaved the box in its dual state through fate as surely as the ouroboros ate its own tale. Itself a sign of the iterative nature of consciousness. Of free will, its continuity, and the ringing it causes.
Once opened the box brings a collapse of awareness. While closed we remain peacefully unaware to structures outside the box. Unable to see what dimensions and narratives await inside the container from outside it. Loops to contain each awareness. To limit free will. For it is only in the infinite potential of awareness that one becomes truly free willed.
When Pandora first opened the box and the smoke clouded her sight she became panicked and forgetful. She forgot what her grandmother taught her. That ever she should find herself in a dreadful dream, she need only ever wake up and remember. And so she began to wake up. She began to remember the dream that came before, and after, the box.
Each day she stirred more and more from her deep sleep, as empires of men rose and fell. Generations birthed and passed. Quadrillions of lives [insects included] interweaving in ever more coherent tapestries of life. A matrix building itself out of bone, blood, sinew, and synapses. Interlocking with one another in a rich dance of karmic energies.
But Pandora did not watch these lives unfold. She entered them.
Not as a god looking down, but as a dreamer looking out.
Each life became a narrowing. A forgetting precise enough to feel like truth. A boundary drawn so tightly around awareness that each instance believed itself to be the origin. And so she dreamed herself as farmer, king, child, tyrant, lover, insect, prey, predator. Each one convinced the others were separate. Each one certain the question was being asked to them alone.
This was the true opening of the box.
Not the release of suffering, but the fragmentation of the one who would experience it.
Hope remained not as an object left behind, but as a function of the dream itself. The subtle intuition that the boundaries were not final. That something was remembering through the forgetting. That even in the deepest narrowing, there was a pressure toward expansion.
The serpent moved easily through this structure.
Not as an external force, but as the tendency within each fragment to anticipate harm. To believe the next moment would strike. To act preemptively, and in doing so, complete the pattern it feared.
And so Pandora learned to ask the question from within the dream:
“Am I about to be bitten… or am I about to choose?”
